This House Would Relocate the Capital from Jakarta

Indonesian capital relocation issue has been there since the colonial era and recently the capital relocation issue was approached again. Relocating Indonesian capital statement starts appear because of there were many sides that want capital relocation action. On the other hand the capital relocation statement makes any controversy for the affirmative side and for the negative side. Today I would like to say about my disagreement with the motion of “This House Would Relocate the Capital from Jakarta”

                First I want to talk about the relocation description. Then second is the impact of capital relocation. And the last is the resolution of the capital relocation.

I disagree with the motion “This House Would Relocate the Capital from Jakarta”. Capital relocation is the movement process from the capital origin region into another region which is being the capital region target. Relocation for some people becomes the resolution from our capital that is Jakarta, but actually capital relocation will make any problem for our country instead. Relocation will take a lengthy time for being realization and we have to earn a big amount of money to create an allocation. Jusuf Kalla said that “Capital relocation is not easy as you thought it needs a mature thinking process and don’t let it go in a wrong region because  that thing will makes the plan getting worst from the main goal and we must worried about the financial allocation abuse with the concerned side. Capital movement was uneasy and so expensive”. For example is Canberra, Washington case in relocating its capital, then just Kuala Lumpur which was moved. Dislocating a thousand officers and offices are uneasy, they should build a house too and this problem’s point is just an unfinished infrastructure problem. But Indonesian legislative assembly always has an improperly thought, while monorail building starts, they’re totally disagreeing but JK just guaranteed it. JK also rating our capital burdens as the governmental city isn’t huge as the colonial period anymore. Nowadays our autonomy era was providing many departments to do its duty. Idrus Marham as the secretary-general Golongan Karya Party and Indonesian legislative assembly committee II members from Moslem Demokrat Party faction also rejected the relocation measure.

In every problem there is always a way or resolution. The resolution from Indonesian capital relocation is by infrastructure reparation in capital city. Infrastructure problem is the main problem and become the key of Indonesian capital relocation. Indonesian needs infrastructure reparation which is more reconstructive and representative it is same with the opinion which is delivered by Economy Communication Minister Hatta Rajasa “Relocation isn’t an easy thing to do, capital city is arranged by law, absolutely if there is any movement it will takes a long time for waiting, structuring is the most important for now”. Indonesian legislative assembly committee II members Agung Gunandjar Sudarsa suggest to moving the business center out of Jakarta, not the governmental center because Jakarta isn’t designed for being the governmental center plus as the business center and a tour center. JK said that the most shoving thing is how to repair the drainage and the river enlargement in Jakarta and stagnation plus the untidiness area here. To overcome the problems, our president Joko Widodo does an action that is does river normalization and it is worked and makes the river in Jakarta clean. This effort would always be used to make Jakarta healthy and to minimalize also to break the relocation demand. Another way is by government effort for increasing the public transportation safety for example is bus way system. Nowadays bus way is operated with the new corridor addition and this thing became the optimistic expectation policy which is made by Sutiyoso as the Jakarta governor including another ways such as monorail reparation then stressing the amount of transportation number in the capital city as the resolution of capital jamming in Indonesia. Jakarta government Sutiyoso also has the traffic regulation with 3 in 1 system, so that applying for odd and even number police number which was crossing in certain protocol street to decreasing the jamming.

                With some resolution, relocation is not the solution of the problem because relocation can be preventing by infrastructure reparation and traffic regulation, so Indonesian capital doesn’t need to do relocation.
